Chickens

This is a photo of some of the ex-battery hens we adopted in July. We have 6 altogether named Delia, Clarissa, Jennifer, Isabella, Fanny & Nigella. (Not that I can really tell one from the other just yet!)

We've had a lot of work go on in our garden lately, including decking being built, the chicken run and there's nearly a built in BBQ. As it's now starting to look a bit more finished we've been inspired to spend a bit of time in the garden, so I have been planning some pots, hanging baskets and containers I want to get and will be heading out on Saturday to get everything I need.

A trip to the Garden Centre

We have decided that this is the year we WILL sort the garden out. We've been living here now for 3 years and it's time we got down to it. We have over £400 worth of garden centre vouchers to spend from our wedding back in June, and a more definite idea of what we want to spend it on.

So in the interest of getting on with things, yesterday I started off some sprouting seeds in my seed sprouter. Namely Rocket and Red Cabbage. A great instant gratification gardening project! I also planted basil, oregano and coriander from a seed set hubby was bought for his birthday.

I have decided to concentrate on herbs this year and see if I can manage to not buy any from a supermarket! They will taste better and think of all the varieties. Matthew will be concentrating on vegatables, but there's one or two I fancy trying. Cherry tomatoes in hanging baskets and Jalepeno peppers (because I can't buy them anywhere), so far. I am also going to start taking more photos!
